In the fifties his family was welcomed in one of those humble houses, emigrants from Murcia, fleeing from poverty in search of a better future. He arrived at the age of nine and spent his youth in this small nucleus. Despite the hardships of the time, full of happy memories. Many years later, having maintained the emotional link with the site, his brother marries the heiress of the house across the street, he has the opportunity to acquire the house where he spent part of his childhood.
The idea of the QGAT arises from the desire to build a different space where visitors feel welcome and have spaces to think, work or enjoy in a privileged environment. Inaugurated in 2006, it has not stopped evolving since day one, with the aim of adapting to the needs of a changing world in constant evolution. Our main pillars during all these years have been comfort, a careful gastronomy and customer service. Since then, the road has not always been easy, the 2008 crisis, Covid-19, etc., but the illusion in the project has kept us alive. The difficulties have helped us not to relax, to seek constant improvement, to be critical.
The Woodhouse building. Since 2006 we have been dreaming of becoming bigger, of being able to expand our facilities, but we need many years to make it possible. With great enthusiasm in ’18 we started the expansion of a new building. The world has changed, and the new project needs other struts. Climate change is already making itself felt and we understand that we cannot grow without being sensitive to our environment.
The Woodhouse building is a building constructed to high standards in terms of sustainability and health applied to the building. With the help of the design team Bailo Rull architects and advised by the HAUS Healthy buildings team, we integrate the most efficient construction systems with the aim of minimizing our energy demand to the maximum. However, we integrate the most advanced technology in order to meet the reduced demand with the lowest possible consumption. Highly insulating facades and enclosures, aerothermal, photovoltaic, rainwater collection tank, gray water recirculation, use of local, natural materials, wood, ceramics, organic paints, etc. make it a benchmark in terms of sustainability.
In the area of health we treat the air quality of the spaces with filtering systems and CO₂ sensors that guarantee optimum levels at all times. Rest areas free of electric and magnetic fields and with carefully designed acoustics.
